Welcome New Scouts!
Before a new Scout may participate in any Troop 1450 outings, the Scout's parents must first submit a:
BSA Online Youth Application (please add your BSA Youth Member ID# if transitioning from a pack or another troop.)
BSA Health History Form (does not require a doctor visit).
Scouts BSA Uniform - Troop 1450 only requires a Boy Scout shirt (short-sleeved is recommended). Accessories such as pants, belt, hat, socks, and neckerchief are optional.
Also required are:
Our Troop is happy to provide you with a 1450 Unit Number Patch (please ask for one).
Scouts BSA Handbook - Our Troop recommends the coil bound handbook.
A Fieldbook/Handbook Cover is also recommended to protect your handbook.
Please write the Scout's name inside the handbook's front cover and on outside cover.
At the end of the handbook are the Scouts BSA Rank Requirements. These sign-off pages are the Scout's official advancement records. As each rank is completed, please make photocopies to keep on file in case these pages are ever lost.
The National Capital Scout Store located at 9190 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, MD 20814, is the closest store location to Rockville.
The Official BSA Online Store is ScoutShop.org
Recommended personal equipment for campouts: sleeping bag, sleeping pad, water bottle, mess kit, rain gear, flashlight, compass, pocket knife, & personal first aid kit.
Parents may want to consider purchasing the YAKns, Youth Adventure Kit (New Scout), which has all the essential gear in one kit for $350 (no shopping around).
As merit badges are awarded at Courts of Honor, please also keep on file the Applicant's Record section of the BSA Merit Badge Blue Cards. Blue Cards are the record of the Scouts progress towards earning a particular merit badge. Once complete and signed by a counselor, these are the Scout's record that they've completed the badge. These are important records that should be kept in a safe place.
